"I just want to say one word to you, just one word. PLASTICS. There's a great future in PLASTICS!"
The year was 1967, and the young man being given this advice was Dustin Hoffman, playing the role of Benjamin Braddock, the protagonist of the film "The Graduate".

Soon after, in 1969, UMBRAPLAST was established: an extremely advanced company with a budding international vocation thanks to the intuition of its founder, Giuliano Veschi. The company, which is currently headed by an allfemale management and remains the property of the Veschi family, has since undergone significant expansion, and has diversified its product range of traditional shoppers and other types of bags to include the following lines: AUTOMOTIVE, MADAMEBIO (biocompostable products), RECYCLING, TEXTILE AND "CLASSIC"; all to respond to the market's needs, while looking to the future with new technologies, and with a particular awareness of the products' ecosustainability.

"We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children" (American Indian Proverb)

Umbraplast has expressed its great interest in protecting the environment by conducting major RESEARCH and CONTINUOUS INNOVATION PROJECTS aimed at developing a range of BIODEGRADABLE and COMPOSTABLE PRODUCTS WITH BIOPOLYMERS, which can be disposed of as organic waste, and sent for industrial composting in order to be transformed into fertile soil. Made with renewable raw materials, these products represent a sustainable alternative to conventional plastic models.

We were among the first in Europe to obtain OK COMPOST VINCOTTE certification, thus demonstrating the actual compostability of the bag, as well as the entire production cycle's compliance with the EN 13432: 2000 standard.

Compost is the result of the decomposition process that plant substances naturally undergo at the end of their life cycles. Composting allows us to significantly reduce the volume of organic waste that we produce (fruit scraps, various foods items, foliage, etc.), and allows it to be recovered for use as an important fertilizer in agriculture, thus helping the environment to dispose of waste that would otherwise be lost in a biologically healthy manner.

The entire production process is carried out inhouse by the company in continuous shifts, 24 hours a day, starting with the polymer itself, and ending up with the finished product in any size and thickness, with or without personalized printing.

Our core business is focused upon customer satisfaction, with every stage of the production process being meticulously monitored, while at the same time ensuring fast production and delivery times.

We have ALWAYS exported our products WORLDWIDE!

Our certifications include: ISO9001:2008 quality certification with TUV Italia, CSI CERT RECYCLED PLASTIC, CSI CERT PLASTIC BYPRODUCT and OK COMPOST VINCOTTE.
